Dr. Maloney’s Brief Bio

Hello–welcome to the practice!  When you need to see a psychiatrist, either for you or for your child, you may have some questions about the doctor, so here is a bit about the physician.

Dr. Maloney graduated first from the University of Wisconsin – Madison with a Bachelors in Science in Nursing.  After teaching nursing and being a nurse for about a decade, she then completed medical school at the University of Vermont College of Medicine (MD) in 1999.  The ten years of training included two fellowships (both in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and an NIH-sponsored research in psychobiology.)

As a Board Certified in Child and Adolescent and General Psychiatrist, she is qualified to serve those with mental health needs over the life span.  Currently, Dr. Maloney has a faculty appointment at University of Massachusetts School of Medicine in the  Department of Psychiatry http://www.umassmed.edu/psychiatry/candi/about_us/staff/  and she works  as a co-investigator at Umass in pediatric clinical trials.  She also has a particular interest in the use of serious games and other health apps and technologies http://www.umassmed.edu/mhealth/people/faculty/.    Dr. Maloney is an active member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry (AACAP), participates in advocacy efforts to protect the rights of vulnerable youth, and serves on various ways in her local community.
